Freshwater Mollusks
These are tentacles from freshwater mollusks know as bryozoa, similar to soft coral in the sea. They are aquatic colonial animals that grow on the rocks, branches, and leaves under the water.

Two new emperor penguin colonies totaling 6000 chicks have just been observed near Mertz Glacier on Antarctica. A pair of emperor penguins may only successfully raise one chick a year.

![The brittle star, Ophiothela mirabilis, previously restricted to the Pacific, has recently been found as far as Caribbean reefs in the Atlantic Ocean. Hitch-hiking invasive species such as this have the potential to inflict billions of dollars of damages to the economy.
